Background

The 2017 Northwoods baseball season launched Rafters Fan, a premier real-time fan engagement platform for iOS and Android. Throughout the season, Rafters fans were engaged on their mobile devices with news, game schedules, special events, and promotions. During games, Rafters Fan entertained fans with trivia contests, opinion polls, sideline activities, and venue check-ins, all in real-time. A Jumbotron feature gave all fans in the stadium the opportunity to test their team knowledge and earn points for being awesome and having the correct answer.

Project Work

Rafters Fan began as a collaboration with our favorite Northwoods League baseball team, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Our mission was to build a fun and engaging mobile platform that fans could use at the stadium to increase their enjoyment of the game.

Working with the Rafters front office staff, we lead the effort to define the vision and features that would serve fans with a season program, game schedules, map directions, promotions, rewards, and fun ballpark activities such as trivia games, polls, and call-the-base...right from their seats or the beer line using their mobile phones.

Our roles on this project included product definition, system architecture, UI design, software development, testing, deployment, dev-ops, and production operations. We designed and created digital content for in-game activities, jumbotron presentations, in-app ads, custom t-shirt logos, and promotional signage in the stadium. This partnership also gave us the opportunity to plan and manage special events for promoting the Rafters and the Rafters Fan app.
